Clinton and Bush

I know I’m about eight years late to talk about this, but the other day I heard someone mention something along the lines of “Monica Lewinski had more man in her than George Bush ever did,” of course implying that Clinton was more manly than Bush, or perhaps given his penchant for lying and cheating, simply a larger package.

The latter seems more likely. I don’t see how you could attribute manliness to a president who lies under oath about committing sexual acts with an intern to whom he was not married in the Oval Office, of all places. Whatever else Clinton may have done, that is the defining issue of his presidency, the one which he has been struggling for six years to overshadow with his books, speeches, UN lobbying, whatever else. He’s been spending the last six years of his life trying to create for himself a legacy that will be remembered without being headlined by the Lewinski Scandal. All in all, Bill Clinton is a shallow man with shallow ideals. But at least he’s manlier than Bush… at least in the most literal sense possible. That seems to be all that matters to many.

That was just bugging me, so I thought I’d write it down.
